An Airhostess

Nowadays as people have had more demands in this society, more different type of jobs opportunities will be provide to serve the public in order to satisfy people’s desires. It means that people have more choices to get a job that they like as long as they have enough ability to get it. For example, if you want to be a kindergarten teacher, you need to know how to take care of your students since they are very young and how to design the curriculum. For me, being an airhostess is one of my dream jobs because it will improve my English and allow me to meet different people and go to many places to fulfill my dream of traveling around the world.

English is the only language I can use to communicate with people who don’t know Chinese. Since being an airhostess requires good English ability, I must have excellent English skills when I become an airhostess so that I can serve my passengers in the airplane. Also, through keep speaking English to passengers, my speaking skills will progress dramatically because I practice every day. As a result, people will envy that I can speak English fluently and I will get respect from them. In addition, if I want to change jobs, it will be easier to find a job than others due to the fact that my English skills are excellent. In short, improving my English over this career is the first reason why I want to be an airhostess.

There is another reason to explain why I choose to be an airhostess as my dream job. I will have more chances to make different friends who have different levels of social status and background, such as a Dubai person who owns many petroleum companies or a man who comes from Africa. Maybe some of them will become my future husband. Furthermore, since I know many people, I will learn about different cultures and stories through our communication. And then because of my job feature, I will have more opportunities to visit different countries in person which my passengers suggest. Therefore, I won’t need to spend much time searching travel information; I will know exactly where I should go when I visit certain places, I will feel comfortable with many people of many different cultures.

Being an airhostess, not only will enhance my English but also I can make friends who come from diverse backgrounds and visit different countries. Unfortunately, this dream job is impossible to achieve because it requires a physical condition: airhostesses must be at least 5 feet, 5 inches and, therefore; I am too short. Now, I am trying to find other ways to attain the same benefices, and this essay has given me some good ideas.

The Causes of Economic Growth

Korea has been affected by near nations. In the past, Korea was pillaged by Japan and China. We always had wars, so we couldn’t develop our economy. In addition, after independence from Japan, we made Korean war, so we divided South and North Korea. In that time we lost everything: buildings, technology, and property, and people. We needed to develop. Any one couldn’t guess our country will have strong economy; however, Korea did. Now Korea became strong economy in short time. Korea has experienced great economic growth. Three major factors have expanded the Korean economy and earned its name of Asian Tiger: 1) wise use of technology, 2) intelligent economic policy 3) cultivation of workers.
One cause of economic growth is big companies and our own technology. Korea didn’t have any big companies before the1960’s. The Korean government believed big company and our own technology could make strong economy. The WTO (World Trade Organization) tells developing countries that they have to open a FTA (Free Trade Agreement) in order to be strong economy. However, it is too bad for developing countries. If developing countries open FTA about everything, people will buy already developed technology and something; as a result, their own company can’t be strong. Korea government knew it, so we had protective trade. For example, we never imported cars, electronic manufactures, and semiconductor in order to help the growth of our companies. If people wanted to buy other cars of other countries, they had to pay too much, so people bought our own manufactures. Through this strategy, Korean companies earned great profits. As a result, we made great companies like Samsung, LG, and Hyundai, especially Samsung which has become one of best companies in the world. Moreover, we perceived China had a lot of business potential, so we entered into diplomatic relationships with China. Actually, many Korean companies earned money from China. Many people live in China. It means China is very big market. We have been keeping relationship. It is good policy.
The second cause of economic growth is the government’s support. Government procured and cultivated talented personal. First, they made every citizen learn until high school. Thus, 98% people in Korea can read and write. It tells education rate is highest. Person is future. Smart person is good resource in order to make good nation. Moreover, government supported many young talents can study abroad. Before the 1960’s, Korea was very poor, so many smart people couldn’t study abroad. However, the government helped them. They learned developed technology and used their knowledge. Most important cause is spirit. Every Korean thinks we are family, and they had patriotic sentiment. In poor time, every people’s mind is one. Actually, everyone worked until night. They were never annoyed. It was very powerful. Another example, in 1998, Korea had big economic panic. Our government didn’t have dollars and couldn’t get out of debt. As an aftermath of the economic crisis, many companies went bankrupt. However we overcame trials. Every Korean collected own gold, dollars, save electricity and so on. Maybe people in other countries can’t understand. It is our culture.
Through 3 major causes, Korea has experienced dramatic economic growth. Only during 40~50 years, everything was changed. Korea also earned the name of Asian Tiger. Technology of Korea and good policies of Korea made economy strong, but it is not powerful. Really powerful thing is Korean people. Great economic powers have to be afraid of Korean, because Korea will be strong more and more through the Korean people.

THE CHANGING FACE OF VIETNAM

Globalization has affected many countries around the world, especially developing countries such as Vietnam. Many people in the world assume that it brings many good things for their country, but others disagree because they think it brings many bad things to them. In Vietnam, many people think that globalization has both positive and negative effects to their country.
Globalization has given many benefits to this country. First, it has created many new jobs. Because the salary for Vietnamese workers is cheaper than workers in Europe and the U.S, many foreign companies hire Vietnamese to work in their factories. As a result, people now have many more chances to earn more money to take care of themselves and their family. In the past, many workers lacked food to eat, couldn’t get health care, insurance or have money to pay tuition for their children. Nowadays, they can get all of those because they have a job. Second, the economy has been expanding rapidly. Vietnam has more investments from other companies and countries. For example, the Kumho Corporation in Korea invested to build a big building in Hochiminh city. That’s a trade, shopping center, hotel, bank and many offices for lease. There are many corporations like Kumho that have invested heavily in Vietnam. In addition, some international companies have opened their branches in Vietnam. For instance, the car company Mercedes built several factories where they hired local workers to assemble cars for them. Finally, the standard of living has been improved. People have enough money to buy a house, car, land etc. There are now many kinds of new entertainment and services such as toy stores, water parks for children and beauty care, gyms for adult and restaurants, hotels for family. They serve customers of all ages. All of these things have been changing the face of Vietnam since the Vietnamese government began allowing international trade in 1990.
Beside many good things, the globalization has also brought many bad things to the people’s lives. The first negative effect is the exploitation. The foreign employers force their employees work more than 8 hours per day without paying overtime incentives. In addition, many workers have to work under very poor working condition, such as under very hot weather of over 100 degree Fahrenheit without air conditioning as well as heater when temperature drop down below 65 degree. The most serious thing that happens when the workers go on strike but their employers hit them by clubs, so few of people get hurt. The second effect is pollution. For example, one food company named Vedan dumped the wastes and chemicals into rivers which caused pollution in the areas causing habitants breathing diseases such as asthmas etc. Therefore, the government wanted this company to pay a fee to clean the rivers and make restitution for the in habitants. Third, there are some bad cultures from other countries which influence Vietnamese, especially the youth. For instance, the use of drugs and alcohol are increasing. Many of the youth quit school at the very early age and join gangs. As a result, many crimes occur in Vietnam such as rape, murder etc. which harm the Vietnamese people’s lives. Finally, the economy in Vietnam is not stable. The richest can be bankrupted at any time; therefore, they can be jobless and homeless people. The government tries to find a solution for this problem but it’s really difficult to solve.
The positive and negative effects of globalization have influenced Vietnam. Although there are many benefits which globalization gives to country such as jobs, economic development and a good standard of living. But it also has many bad things that have harmed the Vietnamese like exploitation, pollution and bad cultures. Therefore, Vietnam has to be careful because these negative effects can influence Vietnamese young generations. Vietnam can become a developed country in the future by taking advantage of the positive aspects of globalization.

The Landscape Designer in Taiwan

After the economic developed, the people who live in Taiwan are respected the ambience. Many reports show the earth has been sick because human make a lot of pollution and destroy the ecology. In the city, there are many buildings that are too crowded and don`t have enough green space. In the country, although there are many the grasses, the factories made a lot of pollutions destroy the land. In 1986, the government made the laws of environmental protection to control the problems; therefore, we should change our lifestyle and improve our ambience. As a result, I want to be a landscape designer and help the earth`s health. Being a good landscape designer will have two major effect: Improve my life`s functions and city`s ambience, and make me proud.
One effect for a nice landscape designer is that would improve our life better. Taiwan is a small island with a high density of population, so it doesn`t have enough grass in the city. People who live in the city and always stay inside, so many people have never enjoyed relaxing in the open space like a community park. We can use the nearly parks to do many things, such as we can do exercise, walk with our dog, and talk with the neighbors. Playing in the park is a good decision to a child because it can make the child contact the environment and make more new friends. For example, Danna Forest Park, an ecology park, is located in Taipei, the capital of Taiwan. This park has made the townspeople have more places to rest and get in touch with nature. Therefore, when we have a nice landscape in our city, it could make the old people go outside and let our life decompress. As a result, it could reduce the problems of lonely people, and they wouldn`t feel their life is that boring. I like this job because I can make many people to get more chances to ease up, and let people understand what the important of environment is.
The other effect for me is that help to improve the city`s ambience and make me proud. Making a nice environment could attract the foreign tourists and make more economic opportunities. A city has a nice urban design and plan, it will attract more people. Taipei has the perfect urban design and makes the city have more grass. For instance, the Hsimenting Walking Street, a wonderful sidewalk, has made more commercial opportunities, so many visitors like to go there. In addition, the old building combines the new design to make the fresh feeling. Planting a lot of trees would make more fresh air and could reduce the air pollution. Having this job that could help everyone`s life would be beneficial to me.
Saving the earth health is an important issue in the world, and it would make our life more comfortable. We need to change our lifestyle to reduce the pollution and produce more ideas to purify our environment. A landscape designer is one of jobs saving the world, so I think this job would not only be beneficial to me but also help the earth. We should improve our environment and generate more grass to abate the pollutions which we produced. I would really like a job that would achieve the noble goal.

Fix The Weaknesses For More And More Development.

In the past, Korea was very poor because we were a colony of Japan, and we had a big war between North Korea and South Korea from 1950 to 1953. Many people died because they didn’t eat anything, so many nurses and miners were dispatched to other countries such as Germany for earning money. Most Korean worked very hard to escape poverty. Now the South Korean economy is the eleventh biggest in the world, but we still have many weaknesses. If we fix these weaknesses, our economy will be even better than before. There are three problems: lack of resources, powerful government, and the gap between the rich and poor.

The first problem is about natural resources because Korean land is small. Besides, our land has separated North and South; therefore, we don’t have natural resources such as oil. We import oil, so our oil price is very expensive. American oil price is 3 dollars per gallon, but Korean oil price is more than 6 dollars per gallon. Because of this problem, all prices increase gradually, and the value of the money is falling. That is our first weak point.

The second problem is the powerful government. Actually, the powerful government is a good point. In the past, the government supported the big companies such as Samsung and Hyundai. Although our economy is really improved than before, but usually big companies have managed Korean economy. Many small companies were bankrupted; thus, unemployed person is increased, and some big cities more developed than other small cities. That resulted in the low regional economy.

The third problem is the gap between the rich and the poor. As mentioned above, the number of unemployed people has increased, and the persons who work in the big companies earn much money; as a result, the gap between the rich and the poor is widening. In addition, just some cities have developed, so the gap between each city is widening, too. That is the third weakness.

Korean worked very hard to escape poverty. Finally, we have escaped poverty, but we have three problems: lack of resources, powerful government, and the gap between the rich and the poor. Even though our economy is the eleventh in the world, we can’t develop if we don’t fix these problems. We need to fix these weaknesses for more and more development.

Let's Exercise!

People are recently interested in exercise. Even though they are busy, they try to spend time for exercise even a moment. They know that exercise is very importent. They are expected to get each different effects from exercise. There are effects which people want: health, diet.
There are recently uncommon illness for environment. Of course, people do not want to get the illness. When you exercise, you can gain immunity. It is better for your health. Even though you are sick, you can recover from sickness. Exercise is a very necessary of your health.
Some people want to diet. If you want to lose weight a lot, you would not eat anymore; however, that is not good way. You should exercise for losing weight. You can lose weight in a good way even you can have a well-proportioned figure because exercise develops muscle.
Moderate exercise tends to improve our health. Even exercise makes you are proud yourself in looking good. If you spend time for exercise even for a short time, you will get effects in your life.

A Memorable Teacher in My Life

How I can forget Mr. Shin my high school mathematics teacher because he was the most incompetent teacher I ever had? He was a director in charge. However, there was comething wrong with him that he liked to use his position. Perhaps, he was greedy. He made a special compulsory education system which forced all students to study until 11 pm after their classes. It might have been good for some students, but he wanted each student to give him 100 dollars a month. After this happened, my school was featured in a newpaper that students in my school have to spend much money then other schools. His teaching style was traditional with all lectures. He was my mathematics teacher and since my major in hight school was science and mathematics, those subjects were very important. Nonetheless, we had to just memorize not even understand for his old-fashioned teaching method. Furthermore, he never prepared for class, and he gave us wrong explanations. He also spent much time talking about unnecessary thing. When one of my classmates gave her opinion to Mr. Shin about his teaching style; he did not like it, and he slapped her on the cheek. He was not professional. He did not do his duties for students. He had to help students get in to good universities, but he did not have any information about that. Thus, all students had to find infornation about university admission by themselves. I heard that one student's parents offered a bribe to Mr. Shin so that he would help the student to attend a good university. It was unfair and illegal. It is sad that some teachers are so unethical. I just want to ask Mr. Shin why he wanted to be a teacher.
